
Robert A. Bailey
Robert A. Bailey is a partner in the Firm’s Los Angeles office in the Litigation Department. His principal areas of focus are commercial litigation, trial and appellate practice. Mr. Bailey’s extensive litigation experience includes trying dozens of bench and trial matters to verdict.
Mr. Bailey represents clients ranging from individuals to Fortune 100 companies on a range of civil disputes. His adept business litigation experience includes a wide variety of subject matters including financial services, real estate, trusts and estates, class actions, toxic torts, insurance coverage, bankruptcy and complex contractual and tort actions.
Mr. Bailey’s appellate work has resulted in numerous published opinions and has included matters before the Ninth Circuit, the California Supreme Court, the California Courts of Appeal, the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, the Washington State Courts of Appeals, and the Washington State Supreme Court.
Prior to Musick Peeler, Mr. Bailey was a Partner at Lagerlof LLP, specializing in commercial litigation and trial practice. He divided his time between the firm’s California and Washington offices and was the partner-in-charge of the Seattle office. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bailey was an associate with both Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
Mr. Bailey’s legal career began in the U.S. Navy as a Judge Advocate. As a JAG, Mr. Bailey worked on several high-profile cases that gained national media attention, one of which required him to testify before the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee. During his time in the Navy, the Syracuse Journal of International Law published Mr. Bailey’s article on the law of war.
