Philip Ewen
Philip Ewen is a partner in the Firm's Los Angeles office, a member of the Firm's Executive Committee, and the Chairperson of the Labor and Employment Law Department. Mr. Ewen specializes in the defense of employment litigation in state court, federal court, and arbitration. He has served as lead trial counsel in the defense of employers in wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, wage and hour, and class action litigation. He also handles collective bargaining negotiations, contract arbitrations, and administrative hearings before state and federal agencies.
Mr. Ewen coordinates an employment law hotline service for medical professionals, and he advises employers on a wide variety of matters, including discipline and terminations, layoffs, wage and hour and leave questions, disability issues, the investigation of internal complaints, stock options, employment policies, and employment and severance agreements. He has extensive experience representing educational institutions and healthcare employers.
During law school, Mr. Ewen was a member of the Board of Editors of the Southern California Law Review.
